Helping businesswomen thrive during menopause

The Bay Tree VA client portfolio is diverse. This means it is always learning something new as well as bringing its own experience to a client. One such client is Samantha Hardingham, a certified menopause specialist. Samantha’s ‘Menopause Revolution’ programme energises women to not only survive the menopause but thrive.

“Menopause is a natural transition but has its challenges. Brain fog, mood swings and sleep disturbances can all feel overwhelming. However, small, intentional changes can help you stay sharp and thrive.”

What advice does Samantha give to women juggling the work/life balance during menopause?

  • · Start with optimising your diet. Nutrient-dense foods like salmon, leafy greens and seeds provide essential fats and antioxidants to support cognitive clarity and hormonal balance.
  • · 1% dehydration can equate to up to 15% less efficiency in the body, so stay hydrated with two litres of water a day or herbal teas. Dehydration can easily be mistaken as brain fog.
  • · Focus on sleep hygiene. Menopause-related insomnia is common so strategies like maintaining a consistent bedtime, reducing caffeine, taking magnesium and creating a cool, dark sleep environment can help.
  • · Don’t underestimate stress management. Techniques like yoga, mindfulness or just a brief midday walk will reduce cortisol and improve focus.
  • · Lastly, normalise the conversation. Advocate for menopause-friendly workplace policies – it’s time to lead with both strength and compassion.

A helping hand

Bay Tree team member, Katie, supports Samantha and helps her run her business: “I manage Samantha’s online presence across social media and we have regular meetings to plan future strategies and projects. Having run my own business for ten years prior to joining Bay Tree VA, I am also a useful sounding board for ideas. I really enjoy the work and can absolutely relate to the challenges and issues that Samantha and her clients face. They are successful businesswomen as well as mothers, partners and daughters, and hormonal symptoms can really hamper their ability to juggle their responsibilities and be happy and healthy. It’s great to be working with Samantha to enable women to improve their lives.”
